Job Description: Nursery Manager

The successful candidate will be passionate and positive about providing high-quality childcare. You will possess advanced qualifications in Child Care & Education (Graduate in Childcare) and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar leadership role, with a track record of delivering ‘Good’ and above Ofsted inspections. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of the EYFS statutory requirements and be able to motivate and train a team of practitioners to provide the highest quality care at all times.

  • Work towards capacity at a minimum of 85% and as close to the 100% capacity as possible (building a waiting list where necessary)
  • Impressive and successful with show-arounds and parent visits
  • Contribute constructive ideas and working alongside the Senior Management Team to create outstanding childcare
  • Offer organisational skills with the ability to work to targets and deadlines
  • Show proven experience of safeguarding, equality, diversity, health and safety. These are essential areas for the role
  • Build trust in parents, the Local Authority and governing body
  • Communicate effectively with parents and organizing parent social evenings
  • Market and being pro-active in arranging advertising, social media output, leaflet drops etc.
  • Experienced in recruitment
  • Proficient in Management Administration software for nurseries, Excel, Word, as well as online Learning Journeys
  • Plan and organise excursions out of the setting in relation to Safeguarding
  • Differentiating learning activities for age range 0 – 5 years
  • Review and support tracking and observations of the children – ensuring Learning Journals and trackers are all up to date and compliant
  • Manage the transition to school program
  • Oversee the mentoring of the staff team
  • Provide stimulating environments for each room and the outdoors
  • An excellent role model for staff, operating high-quality childcare professionally at all times
  • Apply theories of teaching and learning so that staff continually learn and develop and the care and education on offer progresses
  • Ensure consistency across all our rooms, working with the room leaders to achieve best practice, and helping to support the staff
  • Implement and carry out peer observations Responsive to Intercultural communication and assuring EAL is represented in all areas
  • Be a Montessori advocate and ambassador

Job Description: Deputy Manager

A Yorkshire based chain of high-quality private nurseries is searching for an outstanding Deputy Nursery Manager at its new setting in North Leeds.

The successful candidate will be passionate and positive about providing high-quality childcare. You will possess advanced qualifications in Child Care & Education and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar leadership role, with a track record of delivering ‘Good’ and above Ofsted inspections. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of the EYFS statutory requirements and be able to offer management support for the team of practitioners, parents and children, to provide the highest quality care at all times.

KNOWEDGE & SKILLS:
  • EYFS, Understanding of the Montessori Philosophy
  • Experience of MS Windows, tablets and Apps
  • First Aid qualification
  • Be able to able to use a problem-solving approach to respond appropriately to a wide range of enquiries from professionals and parents
  • Be able to work on own initiative or with others on tasks with minimum supervision
  • To work with the manager in the successful management of the nursery and its administration

PURPOSE OF POST:
  • To assist in the management of the nursery and to be responsible for the nursery in the absence of the Manager
  • To assist in the management of the correct staffing ratio at all times and ensuring the building is both safe and well maintained, with repairs and requirements promptly reported to the Nursery Manager or Managing Director
  • To work with the Room Supervisors so that the nursery provides a high-quality Montessori learning environment. The environment will welcome our families and effectively demonstrate the Company’s Montessori ethos and curriculum policy for the EYFS and Montessori areas of learning.
  • To assist the manager as necessary, so that the nursery meets all company and legal requirements: Company’s Policies and Procedures, the Children’s Act, Health & Safety legislation, Ofsted’s legislation
  • To assist as necessary in the Montessori Accreditationof the nursery rooms, or any other programme adopted by management in order to enhance the quality of the setting
  • To support the staff in their delivery of the Montessori and EYFS Curriculum, helping to create a positive and successful environment inside and out
  • To support the staff in their use of an online observation/tracker system throughout the nursery
  • To communicate effectively with staff, guiding their individual development and practice and assisting in inductions, appraisals and Personal Development Meetings (‘supervisions’).
  • To ensure staff provide excellence in childcare at the nursery, so that we can meet the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and developmental needs of each individual child, irrespective of a child’s gender, race, culture, religion, language or ability. To use the highest of standards of conduct when dealing with children, parents/carers, visitors and colleagues
  • To communicate productively with all staff and to help provide effective leadership and management of the Nursery team, attending staff Personal Development Meetings, appraisals and staff meetings, as required by the Nursery Manager
  • To assist the Manager in effective and safe recruitment of staff, and identifying training and developmental needs for all staff and mentoring of new team members and/or nominate mentors
  • To conduct professional visits and tours of the premises, promoting the high-quality setting
  • To work with the manager and parents on the Parents’ ‘Friends of’ group, which may include hours outside of the normal operating hours; through the key worker system; and through events such as parents evenings, open days and newsletters
  • To work in partnership with outside agencies when necessary e.g. Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, onward school teams, etc.
  • To meet with parents regularly in order to maintain good relationships and to keep parents informed about their child’s progress.
  • To respond to changes in legislation/practice from government and the Local Authority.

ROOM SUPERVISORS

As part of our recruitment, we are searching for successful, experienced Room Supervisors for the Baby, Toddler and Preschool Rooms. Our environment works with a Montessori ethos and, if you are invited for interview, you will be expected to have researched this philosophy. When recruited, you will be fully supported and trained in the Montessori ethos and practice.

The successful candidates will already have worked at Room Supervisor level, and have an understanding of what it takes to lead a team who can offer exceptional education and meaningful play to children in a high-quality environment.

You will be passionate, enthusiastic and committed about childcare of an excellent quality and child development. It would be beneficial to be qualified to the level of Degree / EYT, but not essential. You will provide evidence of an excellent professional background and have first-rate interpersonal and leadership skills. You will also be able to demonstrate a complete knowledge of the EYFS, with good written and spoken English. You will be computer literate and able to use MS Word as well as tablet-based observation and assessment recordings.

You will be a positive leader and an excellent communicator who can motivate a staff team and children alike, and role model effectively.

The role will take on a 40 hour week and the nursery will be open 51 weeks/year.

You will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure. EARLY YEARS EDUCATOR YORK

The successful candidate will be qualified to a full and relevant childcare qualification at a Level 3 standard or above, with an excellent knowledge of the EYFS to an excellent standard, so that a thorough curriculum can be offered to the children in this age-group. Experience of Montessori education is not essential. However, it is expected that you will have researched the outline of the philosophy if you are invited for an interview.
