The EYFS is the statutory curriculum by which we are inspected. All schools and Ofsted-registered providers of Early Years care must follow the framework. For us in a Montessori setting, we are particularly pleased to see it evolve. The Academic Director, Barbara Isaacs, of Montessori Centre International, was on the Board of its creation, and heavily influenced the values and education it incorporated. Its principle is that a settling like ours will ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. At our nurseries, we believe that is an inherent right for each and every child. The EYFS promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.
